More about Tommy...
What is your ultimate Virginia weekend getaway? A nice cabin outside of Charlottesville, for a show, cideries, wineries, and breweries. Any place that the whole family can relax. What is your favorite cuisine, and a favorite Virginia restaurant that serves it? Seafood is my favorite, and Relish, a restaurant in my hometown of Warsaw, serves great seafood. Coming from an area around the Bay, I have been spoiled with the freshest and the best. Which places are on your travel bucket list – Virginia and beyond? In Virginia, I would like to try the springs at the Homestead. Broadly, I would love to take a historical tour of Europe. I am a huge fan of history, so seeing all of those museums and ancient ruins really appeals to me. Mountains or beach? The beach in most cases, but it’s tough. Eat out or carry out? Eat out. A real, professional restaurant experience comprises much more than just the food. The experience is half of the fun! Amusement park or camping? Kings Dominion kid, born and raised. My idea of camping is anything south of a Holiday Inn. Name a place in Virginia you’d like to visit. Tangier Island while I still have the chance, as well as the American Shakespeare Center in Stratford. Virginia has so many hidden cultural gems to find. What’s your area’s best-kept secret? Probably the Tides Inn resort in Urbanna; a traditional, serene country resort with great service and scenery. Favorite place for a beer or a cocktail? I’m a simple man. City Dogs in Richmond is the place for me. And their shot and beer special means that I don’t have to choose! Perfect day in your (Virginia) hometown? A day on the water, a fish fry, perhaps some softshells, and a whole lot of family and friends. There’s only two stoplights in the whole place, so entertainment is somewhat limited to the idyllic and the tranquil. |
