Welcome back Virginia ProStart Chefs! We have an exciting 2026-2027 school year in store, with student competitions, hands-on bootcamps, VPSI 2027, Snout to Tail-gatn’ and more!

I hope everyone is settling into a great start to the 2026–2027 school year! We have a lot happening in Virginia ProStart this year, and I am especially excited about the new opportunities we're creating for students - from our new monthly Competition Series and hands-on bootcamps to VPSI 2027, Snout to Tail-gatn' and more.

One of my goals this year is also a personal one: I want to visit every Virginia ProStart program. I want to spend time in your classrooms and, more importantly, with your students. That might mean jumping into a lab, talking with students about VPSI and other opportunities available to them, or simply seeing what you're working on. Send me a few dates that work for you, and let's get your school on my calendar!

I also want you to think of me as a resource for your program throughout the year. If there is something that would make your program stronger or create a great experience for your students, reach out and let me help. Looking for a guest speaker? Want to connect with a local industry partner? Trying to identify a field trip opportunity or bring a particular skill or career pathway into your classroom? Have an idea but aren't quite sure how to make it happen? Ask me. I may not always have the answer immediately, but chances are I know someone we can call.

And speaking of opportunities, if your school is planning to compete in VPSI 2027 at Kalahari, please be ready when registration opens. The response to our early Intent to Compete period was fantastic - which also means we already have limited spots remaining. If VPSI is part of your plan this year, I would not recommend waiting to register.

We have a lot to look forward to this year, but more than anything, I want Virginia ProStart to be a resource that makes your job easier and gives your students opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have. Please never hesitate to reach out with a question, an idea, or a need. I'm looking forward to another great year with all of you - and to seeing you and your students in your classrooms soon!
