Restaurant Chargebacks and EMV

Now that the fraud liability shift has moved to merchants, Heartland Payments Systems' customers are seeing an increase in chargebacks in the restaurant space. There are very specific rules to be followed for processing these cards to avoid chargeback liability. Many restaurant POS companies do not have a method (EMV) to process these cards which in turn exposes the restaurant to the liability.

Taste of VRLTA Reception

2016 is shaping up to be an action packed year for the Association. And we'll need all the support we can get to help fight for Virginia's hospitality and tourism industries. In concert with AAHOA and sponsors Kings Dominion (event sponsor) and LeisureMedia360 (breakfast sponsor), VRLTA hosts its Annual Day on the Hill and Taste of VRLTA Reception.

More than 50 New Members Join VRLTA Effective Jan. 1

During the 4th Quarter of 2015, VRLTA staff worked with the Norfolk Hospitality Association to put in place a structure that would allow NHA and it's Members to fold into Association as the Norfolk Region Chapter.

The Norfolk Region Chapter became official on January 1. Please join VRLTA in welcoming our newest members and chapter in Norfolk.

Free Prospecting Help for Members

Virginia Tech’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Department, in the Pamplin College of Business, has students available to help Hotel 7 Lodging members with prospecting for new business via the telephone or in-person.

Students enrolled in Howard Feiertag’s Hospitality Sales course are required to participate in this graded laboratory assignment for a minimum of two full days.

There is no cost to the property other than mileage reimbursement for the students, housing, and appropriate meals.

Students will be available March 22-24, 2016
