More about Jessica...
What is your ultimate Virginia weekend getaway?I recently spent a weekend in the mountains of Fauquier County, in Northern Virginia and absolutely fell in love. I stayed in a cozy cottage with amazing restaurants a stone’s throw away. As a foodie, I love to experience all the cuisines Virginia has to offer so I’ll go anywhere for a great meal/dining experience! What is your favorite cuisine, and a favorite Virginia restaurant that serves it? If I had to choose just one, I’d go with Italian. A hearty pasta dish will always do wonders for the soul! Favorite Italian restaurant would probably be Edo’s Squid right here in Richmond. It has the cozy family friendly feel and their pasta is always perfect! Which places are on your travel bucket list – Virginia and beyond? Top of my list will always be The Inn at Little Washington. I love a dining experience and a dining adventure and as the best rated place in the state, I can’t imagine how wonderful both of those would be! Beyond Virginia, I’d have to say Ireland or the countryside of England. Being in nature and learning the history of those places would be so fascinating! Mountains or beach? Definitely mountains. Love to explore small towns to learn the history and stories behind the places I visit. The solitude is always welcomed after living in the city day to day. Eat out or carry out? Carry-out BUT while grabbing a cocktail while you wait! Amusement park or camping? Definitely amusement park….unless extreme Glamping counts as camping! No sleeping bags in nature for me! Name a place in Virginia you’d like to visit. As someone who grew up outside of Richmond and have lived in the city for the better part of 20 years, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never visited Hollywood Cemetery. I’d love to see all the old graves and the names of well-known people buried there! What’s your area’s best-kept secret? Being in Richmond, smack dab in the middle of the state, it’s so nice to be able to hop in the car and drive any way and find an adventure. Whether you’re looking for beach, mountains, rivers or lakes, it’s just a short car ride away. Favorite place for a beer or a cocktail?I love going out and trying food and drinks from everywhere I can but I love cozying up to the bar at Brambly Park in Richmond for a glass of wine or craft cocktail! Their wood-fired pizzas are also the perfect addition to any drink you have. Perfect day in your (Virginia) hometown? My perfect day would start with a Chai Latte from one of our local coffee shops, a walk around the VMFA followed by a glass of wine on their veranda and finishing the day with dinner at one of our ever-changing new restaurants. If I’m really going to splurge, I’ll treat myself to a stunning display of delicious food at L’Oppossum! |
