Richmond, Va. – September 30, 2015 – The Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association Education Foundation (VHTAEF), in partnership with the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF), has distributed $23,000 in scholarship awards to eight Virginia students. They include seven first-year collegians and one third-year.

The annual grants are provided to young people that reside in Virginia and who have shown a passion for and commitment to the foodservice and/or hospitality industries and intend to pursue or continue higher education opportunities in those fields.

“We hope that these recipients will use this money to further their education and then stay in Virginia after their higher education to enhance the quality of our restaurants, hotels and other attractions,” says Eric Terry, President of the VHTA.

In the last two years VHTAEF, which receives near dollar-for-dollar-matching from the NRAEF, has awarded $41,000 in scholarships to 23 students.
